CASology #238

Welcome to Week 238 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

The first thing that came to mind for me with this cue word was potato chips which is funny because, while I like them, I don't eat them very often.   A couple of other things came to mind too (time crunch, the crunch of a broken bone) but in the end I went with my original thought.  This cheeky seagull with his stolen potato chip was the perfect image for the challenge.  I stamped him and the sentiment in this fun Lil' Inkers wonky square, coloured him with Copics and popped the die cut up on foam tape. A quick and simple classically CAS layout.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Purple Ombre

Hello, Monday!  I'm starting today with a couple of ombre cards inspired by the challenge over at Just Add Ink.  Lil' Inker Designs has a gorgeous set of ombre papers in rainbow colours that this challenge pushed me to finally put to use.  Isn't it pretty?  I ended up making two cards and keep dithering about which I like best.  At this particular moment it's the first one but that could change at any time.  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.  The design team used Simon Says Exclusive products and the balloon bouquet here is a Simon Says die.

Bear & Rose

Hi there!  How's your weekend going?  Today was my first day off in 12 days so I was excited to not have to set the alarm last night.  However, I don't think I ever need to set it again because the Ella alarm was right on time purring in my face at 5am and demanding her breakfast.  Ugh!  No rest for the wicked around here...

Anyway Luis and I did some errands and then I got a little crafty time so I have 2 cards to share.  First up is for Freshly Made Sketches.  This MFT bear is one of my favourite birthday images - probably because I wish he was delivering that gorgeous cake to me!  He's coloured with Copics, fussy cut and popped up on foam tape inside the stitched circle.  The background paper is from American Crafts.  I'm also going to play along with the No Toppings portion of the challenge over at Seize the Birthday.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Dear Lizzy Neapolitan 6x6) American Crafts
Stamps:  (Bear & sentiment from Beary Special Birthday) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaMark, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Die:  (Stitched circle) Lil' Inker Designs
Markers:  (R00, R02, R20, R22, RV42, YR00, E00, W1, W3, W5, 100) Copic
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig

My next card is for the Muse challenge.  I was inspired by the rose, colours, layers and die cut sentiment on Jenni's card.  The rose is from an NBUS Clearly Besotted set and the pink striped paper is from Doodlebug.  The sentiment is a combo of a Mama Elephant die and a Fresh Squeezed Stamps stamp.  I'm also going to enter it in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge

Happy Birthday, Beast

My college roommate and I were definitely not morning people.  We would get up at the same time and have breakfast together but usually wouldn't exchange more than a grunt  or two before we finished eating.  Because of that we ended up calling each other Beast and Crust (or Beastly and Crusty).  So when I saw this MFT Beast Friends set I knew I had to have it if for no other reason than to make a birthday card for my favourite Beast.  :)  This week's MFT sketch challenge provided me with the perfect design for it and I used some fun MFT papers along with their wonky stitched circle die.  The yeti is coloured with Copics, fussy cut and popped up on foam tape.

Have a lovely weekend!

Ferris Wheels

Hi there!  I've got a card to share today for the Inspired by the Little Things challenge.  This Lawn Fawn ferris wheel is an oldie but goodie.  I embossed it in red, inked up the background with Distress Inks and cut it with a WPlus9 scalloped rectangle die.  What looks like water droplets around the top are actually stars from a Mama Elephant cover plate.  I cut them but left them in place and then covered them with clear Wink of Stella.  Finally I added an Altenew sentiment and some gems.  I'm also going to add this to the Simons Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Ferris wheel from Admit One) Lawn Fawn, (Sentiment from Bejeweled) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Rouge) Zing
Dies:  (Stars coverplate) Mama Elephant, (Scalloped rectangle) WPlus9
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig
Gems:  Recollections

Since I had this stamp set out I decided to use it for a second card.  This time I used the design from CAS(E) This Sketch and the colours from Just Us Girls.  While the first card is pretty dreamy this one is definitely more masculine.  This time I used a sentiment from the LF set and a speech bubble from Neat & Tangled.

CASology #237

I struggled with this cue word for a while because at first all I could think of was sports and was stumped on making a sports related card.  Finally over the weekend I thought of a music score and this card came together super quickly after that.  I inked the pink strip with Distress Inks, stamped the music and sentiment and added some gems.  One layer fabulousness!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Hey Foxy

Hi there!  I've got a card to share for the Sketch For You To Try at Reverse Confetti.  That adorable fox is from a special set designed for Simon Says Stamp.  I paper pieced him with My Favourite Things paper and popped him up on foam tape.  The blue background is the RC All Framed Up die.  I love that you can leave the pieces together or pull it apart and end up with 6 different frames.  So cool!

Chameleon Gators?

Somehow it's already Sunday night.  This weekend just flew by at a ridiculous speed.  I had hoped to get some more cards done today but my plans were thwarted by an unexpected nap attack.  Those things are so sneaky!  I blame it entirely on the giant stack of pancakes that I consumed this morning...

Anyway this card is one I made yesterday but forgot to photograph so here it is today.  It's for the MFT sketch challenge and the MFT colour challenge.  That gator has made another appearance although much more CAS than last time.  I used glossy black Nuvo drops for his eyes, framed the sentiment with a couple of gems and that was it!

Daubers & Doggie

Hello again and happy Saturday!  I've got two cards to share with you today.  First up is inspired by Tracey's awesome card over at Muse.  This is my second attempt.  My first attempt I stuck really closely to Tracey's design and tried to watercolor just the centre of the images like she did.  Me and Zigs still don't play very nicely together though so I put that card aside.  I started digging around through drawers and came across my Hero Arts daubers and thought they'd give me the loose feel of Tracey's coloring without struggling with the Zigs.  So I stamped the balloons and then splotched them with the daubers and I love it!  It's fun and funky and a bit messy.  I think you could give it to a guy (even with the pinkish balloons included).

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Black) Gina K
Stamps:  (Balloons from Admit One) Lawn Fawn, (Sentiment fromLabel Love) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Pale Tomato, Orange Soda, Buttercup, Field Greens, Tide Pool) Hero Arts
Dies:  (Stitched hearts) Lil' Inker Designs

Next is a card for the Addicted to Stamps & More CAS challenge using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  This pooch is from an awesome Gerda Steiner set sent to me by the lovely Judy.  She introduced me to Gerda Steiner and after I oohed and aahed all over a series of cute pooch cards she had made Judy sent me a set for myself.  Crafty friends are the best!  I coloured this guy with Copics, fussy cut him and popped him up on foam tape so he could peek over the sentiment and strips of washi tape.  I love his adorably grouchy face!

Edited to add:  Judy suggested I enter this in the Gerda Steiner Share Your Design Challenge.  Thanks, Judy.  Glad to have a new challenge to play along with!

What Every Girl Deserves

There were 101 things I should have been doing between walks and work shifts this afternoon but I decided to pretend that none of those things existed and snuck off to the Craft Cave instead.  I put this little number together quite quickly using the colours from Cupcake Inspirations and the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches.  The sentiment and the hearts are all from Lil' Inker Designs and the strip behind the hearts is washi tape.  All the hearts are popped up on foam tape to add some dimension.

Taking Flight

How is it Thursday already?  This week is just flying by.  I feel like I've barely stopped.  My boss is away so I have extra responsibilities at work.  I'm also taking care of my boss's neighbors' cats (since they're away too) and I'm walking Tug, my neighbor's dog, everyday this week.  Unfortunately my Tex is not so great with other dogs (that's what happens when you spend the first 12 years of your life chained up getting no socialization) so I have to walk him separately from Tug so I end up taking three 40 minute walks a day.  If nothing else I'm getting my exercise this week!

Luckily I had a productive crafty weekend so I've had cards to share this week.  Today I'm playing along with the Addicted to CAS pets challenge which seems especially appropriate this week since I'm drowning in pets!  :)  Naughty Newton has taken off from his birthday party and who know where he'll end up.  I used a journaling card from Reverse Confetti for the sky and added a generous coating of Wink of Stella to the balloon.

That's it for now.  The critters are calling!

Sailmate

Hello!  Just popping in quickly today with a card for the Just Us Girls Hearts challenge.  These Neat & Tangled stamps were on my wish list for ages but I finally got ahold of them and I love them!  That little sailboat is so cute and I love the heart tucked into the sentiment. I paper pieced the boat with some Lil' Inker papers and used a WPlus9 die for the waves.  Simple and sweet!
